League leaders meeting basement club, should be a dead cert for three points, but Histon have picked up a habit of struggling against lower placed sides, and the first 45 minutes at the Glassworld proved to be no different.

Only the flying home keeper Lance Key stopped his side from being out of the game in the first 45 minutes, whan a diving Scott Cross saw his header well held by Key, the home side also survived shouts of a penalty as defender Matt Mitchell-King tackled Christian Levis from behind, but official, Beevor waved play on, Levis was next to test Key, the home defence made a mistake to let in the dangerous forward, with just keeper to beat Levis slipped the ball passed the number 1, towards goal, with all of the empty goal open the ball was cleared by the sliding defender Matt Langston and away to safety.

In the space of a few minutes Key saved his side once more with two one handed saves from close range headers, but on 35 minutes the keeper was finally beat, when Cross flashed a effort across the keeper and into the far corner of the net, all the home side had to show in the first 45 minutes was shooting from long range which rarely troubled Stuart Searle in goal.

The start of the second half was a lot like the first 45 minutes, both sides attacking, but the final ball was poor, on the hour the home side drew level, a driven ball into the area finally dropped on to the out stretched boot of defender Mitchell-King who shot low passed Searle, just three more minutes went when the home side pulled ahead in the game, a cross from Drew Roberts found Nathaniel Knight-Percival in space at the far post, the forward had so much time and space that he guided his header across Searle and into the net.

Histon looked to have the game won as they went looking for more goals, but with 81 minutes on the clock the defence opened up once more to allow replacement Neville Roach to shot across Key into the net from the corner of the area, with the game looking to end with the points being shared, the home side took the lead once again, a throw in was flicked on at the near post, Basingstoke marking let them down, just like the home sides second goal, but this time it was replacement Antonio Murray who had time and space to slot the ball passed Searle, the Town players looked like boxers on their last legs as the defence sunk to their knees.

A further twist was to come, on 87 minutes the home side turned defence into attack, when Erkan Okay brought the ball out of the danger area, his pass to striker Neil Kennedy brought another save from Searle but the rebound fell to Murray who side footed the ball in to wrap up the points.
